If American Feminists are to be believed, one in four female college students will be the victim of a rape or other sexual assault before graduation. One in four.
If that statistic frightens you, well, it's supposed to. Hysterical demagoguery exists only to promote fear and excite emotions, and that's exactly what the one in four claim is.
To anybody who stopped to think about it, the notion that 25 percent of college women are raped or otherwise sexually assaulted was obvious nonsense; an epidemic that large would be impossible to ignore, no matter how evil or hard-hearted liberals like to believe the Patriarchy is.
Now, thankfully, the Department of Justice has released their report on rape in America. Not only are they reporting that college students are slightly less likely to be raped than the general population, they finally and hopefully permanently have shattered the one in four myth.
According to the new report, there are 6.1 rape victims per 1000 college students- less than 1 percent (actually 0.6 percent). Additionally, the DOJ reports that non-students are slightly more likely to be raped than students, which gives lie to the other end of the college rape myth, the claim that college women are especially at risk.
The news gets even better.
Women 18-24 represent the highest risk group for rape. This is hardly surprising, given the social patterns of young people in that age group.
Outside of the 18-24 age group, the rate of rape or other sexual assault falls to just 1.4 per 1000, or 0.14%.
This is tremendously good news. Any number of rapes is too many, but it's encouraging that the number of rapes is so few, especially when Feminists continue to trumpet the hysterical falsehoods about one in four, one in five, or one in six women being victims (the numbers they use vary depending on which tweet they got their facts from).
Modern Feminists and "social justice warriors" have pretty much abandoned reason and intellect in favor of anger, hatred, and hysterical bleating about "rape culture" and "patriarchy." Don't stand for this! The next time you see one of these professional paranoiacs screaming about rape culture (whatever that is), point them in the direction of the DOJ report: http://www.bjs.gov/content/pub/pdf/rsavcaf9513.pdf. It won't change their minds, and they won't believe any of the facts because confirmation bias is their favorite of all their biases, but at least you can feel good knowing you've fought lies with facts.
