Scrooge is alive and well and managing student housing in South Carolina.
Sgt. William Bullock is stationed in Missouri with the U. S. Army, but returned home to Central, SC to visit his wife and baby daughter. Lily Bullock and the little girl share an apartment at The Groves apartment complex, which is part of Clemson University's student housing. Lily is a student at Clemson.
Since Bullock's name is not on the lease, even though he is a spouse visiting, the landlord said he is not allowed to stay. Bullock said the landlord threatened to press charges and double his wife's rent if he stayed.
"He stated to me that he didn't care about our situation, he didn't care about me being in the military," Bullock said.
The landlord, whose name is Chuck, doesn't seem to understand the difference between a visiting family member and a permanent tenant, so Chuck is threatening the wife and young daughter of an active duty military man.
Since The Groves are not an independently operated facility but actually part of Clemson University's student housing, this story becomes even more offensive. Clemson is a public university, part of South Carolina's land-grant university system. Once again we see government bureaucry actively screwing those who serve their country.
The Groves' website describes the facility as an "all inclusive community." Obviously "all inclusive" doesn't include military families.
