With the recent spate of measles cases, the Left is having a field day attacking Republicans Rand Paul and Chris Christie on the issue of vaccinations.
Both Christie and Paul are on record saying that parents should have some input as to whether their children are vaccinated or not. Note that neither has actively come out against vaccination, but in favor of parental choice. Paul, who has a medical degree from Duke University, has said there's anecdotal evidence relating vaccination to instances of children with mental disorders. However, he's also on records stating clearly that vaccination is beneficial, safe, and necessary. Christie has simply said a child's healthcare decisions belong to parents, not the government.
In response to such radical thinking- that parents should make decisions for their families- Leftists have renewed their shrieking about Conservatives being "anti-science."
The usual gang of idiots have weighed in, including Hillary Clinton:
Senator Hillary Clinton, in response to a questionnaire from the autism activist group A-CHAMP, wrote that she was "Committed to make investments to find the causes of autism, including possible environmental causes like vaccines." And when asked if she would support a study of vaccinated vs. unvaccinated children, she said: "Yes. We don't know what, if any, kind of link there is between vaccines and autism - but we should find out."
Just for the lulz, it's worth noting that Barack Obama said essentially the same thing.
"We've seen just a skyrocketing autism rate. Some people are suspicious that it's connected to the vaccines. This person included. The science right now is inconclusive, but we have to research it."
Now, on to Clinton's broader innuendo, and the claim that Liberals love to spew again and again, that Democrats are somehow the reasonable, enlightened just-the-facts-and-only-the-facts party.
In the last 12 months alone, we've seen Clinton, Obama, and the liberal media trot out the thoroughly debunked but oh-so-useful claim that 1 in 5 American women are rape victims, and the myth of the gender pay gap. Both claims are patently false, but are firm Leftist talking points.
But again, those are demographics and math. Let's talk about biology, and physics, and so forth. You know, sciency stuff. The stuff Liberals love! The stuff Conservatives eschew in favor of myths and lucky charms and fear mongering!
One of the most sensational and ongoing examples of Liberal disdain for science is the Liberal fascination with destroying gender. The cause of the day for the Left is "transgenderism"- the notion that one becomes a man or woman not by having the right chromosomes or genitalia (you know, science), but by simply declaring onself to be a man or a woman.
1976 Olympic decathlete Bruce Jenner is now a woman. Why? Because he says so! A teenage boy committed suicide because he wanted to be a girl, but wasn't, and liberals everywhere excoriated his parents for "misgendering" him. In other words, they said he was their son, not their daughter. Because they understood human biology.
Liberals are pounding the tranny train so hard that they're trying to pass laws letting cross dressers use opposite sex restrooms in public. Because science matters, except when it doesn't.
Liberal anti-science hysteria is most visible in their attempts to kill business and harm the poor. One example is a series of measures to limit or eliminate genetically modified meat and grain. California Democrats pushed anti-GMO Proposition 37 hard, and similar measures have been proposed but failed at the Federal level. This, despite the American Association for the Advancement of Science's conclusion that genetically modified foods pose no more danger than conventionally raised meat and grain. One thing GMOs have done, is lower food prices, which benefits all Americans but especially the poor. Yet, the Left still fosters anti-GMO hysteria, because GMOs make money for "factory farms" and companies like Monsanto. That's much more important than the facts. Because science matters, except when it doesn't.
Try asking a Liberal when human life begins, and the answers will astound you. Explain to an abortion proponent that "life" is essentially defined as a single organism with the ability to grow, adapt, change, and reproduce- and that unborn children meet this criteria, and they'll accuse you of hating women and compare you to Hitler. Because science matters, except when it doesn't.
