President Obama's decided that the best way to start a new year is to threaten the new majority Republican Congress.
In an interview with liberal darling NPR, Obama says that if Republicans start doing the will of the American people and trying to reverse some of the damage he's done, he'll hold his breath until he turns blue.
There are going to be some areas where we disagree and, you know, I haven't used the veto pen very often since I've been in office, partly because legislation that I objected to was typically blocked in the Senate even after the House took over — Republicans took over the House.
Now I suspect there are going to be some times where I've got to pull that pen out. And I'm going to defend gains that we've made in health care; I'm going to defend gains that we've made on environment and clean air and clean water.
So, screw the will of the people. Screw the electoral process. Do whatever it takes to defend the horror show that is Obamacare, and the job-killing environmentalist policies your people have foisted on the country. This is Obama's self-imposed mandate for the rest of his lame duck term.
His hypocrisy knows no bounds. On the one hand, he's threatening to veto everything Republicans do that he doesn't like. On the other, he says Republicans need to understand that Americans want them to get things done.
On the other hand, now you've got Republicans in a position where it's not enough for them simply to grind the wheels of Congress to a halt and then blame me. They are going to be in a position in which they have to show that they can responsibly govern, given that they have significant majorities in both chambers.
Yes, Obama, Republicans do have a responsibility to govern, but you've just threatened to veto all efforts to do that.
Does this clown's false sanctimony and duplicity ever end?
Of course not. Why should it? The President has convinced himself that the reason his minions were trounced in November wasn't that America hates them.
I'm obviously frustrated with the results of the midterm election. I think we had a great record for members of Congress to run on, and I don't think we — myself and the Democratic Party — made as good of a case as we should have. And, you know, as a consequence, we had really low voter turnout, and the results were bad.
That is simply laugh-out-loud funny. Obama believes the reason Americans threw so many Leftists out of office is because the Democrats didn't run enough commercials and Obama didn't give enough speeches. Oh, and because Democrat voters were too lazy to vote. Hmmm. He might be on to something. Democrat voters are, by definition, the laziest people in America. Lazy of mind. Lazy of spirit. Lazy of body.
Regardless, Obama's temper tantrum simply reinforces what Americans already know; the sooner he and his quacking flock of bird brains depart the Federal government, the better.
